  • Who provides the outdoor activites?

    Our own experienced team will assist in planning & implementing your programme & aim to develop a range of both educationally & physically challenging activities which combine developing a knowledge & understanding of this area, along with some actitivies that will strengthen the teamwork, communcation & confidence of those who take part.

  • Who provides transport?

    Where conveniant, it is requested that groups who have their own minibus provide their own transport. In cases where this is not possible, we (subject to availability) are able to arrange alternative transport.

  • When should I book?

    Bookings can be taken for the next academic year in advance.  Please contact the office for more information

  • How long are the residentials?

    Duration of visits are up to you, we can cater for groups staying from 1 night to 4 nights. Most groups stay with us for 2 nights from either Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday - weekends are also available.

  • Who provides catering for the visit?

    We provide a large domestic kitchen facility (no freezer) for you to use.  We ask that you make arrangements for all meals and snacks taking in to consideration the activities you are undergoing, size of your group and kitchen facility available.

  • What are the facilities for disabled students?

    Due to the historic construction and layout, wheelchair use throughout the building. We are undergoing a redevelopment in the near future, which one completed will allow residential accommodation and activities that are inclusive for all. 

  • Can I influence my groups learning outcome?

    The aim for Ormside Education Centre is to achieve a positive learning and hopefully life changing experience for all who take part.  We would encourage you to be involved in the development of your group's residential programme.  Our team will engage with you from the start so we can plan activities best suited to your group. .

  • Is it possible for me to visit the centre before I decide?

    We understand the importance of reassurance for  groups on their first visit and we have a number of preview weekends throughout the year.  These provide an opportunity to visit the accommodation, learn more about the activities and meet the Ormside Education Team.   

  • Are party leaders provided with more information?

    Yes, party leaders are provided with a 'party leader information pack' prior to the groups visit. This covers a number of points including; administration, logistics, centre information, directions and emergency contact numbers.  Our team will liaise directly with you to plan, brief and coordinate programme activities.

  • Will my group have sole occupancy of the centre?

    Depending on the size of your group and time of year you should have exclusive use of the centre for the duration of your stay. There may be some overlap between groups on change-over days.  Our Outdoor Education Officer will coordinate change over days and be the direct point of contact during your stay.
