Who We Are

Knowsley Enterprise Academy

Ormside Education Centre has been run by Knowsley Enterprise Academy since 2016/17, when the building underwent a major refurbishment. KEA then provided over 1,000 free educational trips for children & other educational groups across Knowsley.

KEA has been in operation as an educational charity since 2002 & has engaged in a number of specific projects.

One of these projects is the NeetTV film making programme. NeetTV has engaged over 1,500 children & young people. In producing short films which are then premiered at a local cinema on a yearly basis.

Knowsley Arts Festival takes the form of an annual arts engagement project that sees the work from pupils & students auctioned off by a professional auctioneer at North Mersey Business Centres Conference Facility.

The other major contribution that KEA makes is to assist young people who are classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). This programme offers young people employment opportunities that otherwise, may not have been available to them.

We offer schools, community groups & youth organisations from Knowsley & the North West short stay residential visits which focus on education to develop the communication skills, team-work, confidence & awareness of young people.

Our aim is to provide cost effective residentials, which are within the affordability range of families & schools from Knowsley.

Knowsley Development Trust

"When Barry Gilfoyle & I first discussed revitalising the building it presented a major challenge... however we made a commitment to offer the first 1,000 places for free - we wanted to ensure that those who struggle to make ends meet where able to send their children on a residential visit to this fantastic place"

Steve Dumbell, Group Chief Executive (KDT)

Knowsley Development Trust are the main sponsors & suppliers of Knowsley Enterprise Academy. When Ormside Education Centre was taken over by KEA, we provided the financial backing to carry out the provision of FREE educational visits to the centre.

Now, the proposals for the new build expansion of the centre are about to commence. KDT will look to provide additional resources to ensure that the educational offer benefits the young people of Knowsley throughout their educational provision.
